A brand new start

Hello folks,

How’s it going? I hope everything’s fine. What about me? All I can say — so far so good. My business has been going along well. Yet, as you might know, I launched a new interface of Frexy’s just last week — not a redesigned but realigned version. This gave me a push to turn to my pretty old personal blog and hand-sew new clothes for it.

A brand new design

Things have changed. The web has changed. My writing habit has also changed. The way I created stuff has changed, too. I need to inspire myself. I need to refresh the creative flood in veins. I need a kick start. I need something new.

My old blog has been collecting dust for so long and it’s truly a shame to keep it that way. And you know what? Last year, I was lucky enough to possess the domain name mintran.com from the previous owner. Since “Min Tran” is being used as a unique title in my personal branding, this domain name is obviously a perfect match for my personal site.

The design for my blog was actually planned up to a year, and again it seemed to be a never-ending process. So, I left it aside, waiting for a new inspiration to come. Until last week, after a face-lifting done to Frexy.com, I took the plunge and kept getting my hands dirty with it again.

The initial concept was from an old design I had made last year, in which there had been a lot of variations and improvement on type and color treatments. This time, I tried to take myself out of the comfort zone to craft a design that would give a more personal and tasty feel to my blog. Then I came up with a colorful, modern-retro design, which you are at it now. Everytime I look at this new design, I think it will inspire me to write and share more often.

A new choice of flatform

This blog serves scrapbook and journal filled with thoughts, ideas and cool stuffs I catch a glimpse of around the web. I need a very lightweight, simple, and easy-to-use blogging flatform. I don’t need a full-fledged CMS that takes me more time to use it than the actual time for blogging and sharing. That means I need something to help me express my ideas and thoughts as easily and quickly as possible. So I decided to enter wedlock with Tumblr, not only because of her beauty in smart custom theme creation but thanks to her open and wild relationships shown from the intuitive user interface and strong community.

I will share with you further about the design progress and some tips later.
